Anecdata from someone on IRC:

"I have a Seagate 500 GB SSHD (I think it's 8 GB SSD + 500 GB HD).  It is 
sitting on my desk unused at the moment because twice after months of 
working just fine it has suffered massive filesystem corruption.

"It has been suggested to me that a firmware update might be a good move.  
I'm thinking bcache on a separate SSD & HD would be a better one."

Although of course bcache is Linux-only.
