Great plan. In fact I think I'd prefer to skip the last step ;

mooneye can then run POP and IMAP servers directly. Most things will be
able to access that, but we can wrap elm in a script to use "getmail"
to suck mail to ~/Mail/mbox or similar. I'm not sure if there's a
better way, but we can support procmail like that too.
