I did a "charger" patch to squid once before.

I'd suggest you use the same approach - an external program
which gets passed

AUTH,ip,username
    returns OK, NOTOK

USED,ip,username,bytes_in,bytes_out just like
    returns DONE, FAILED

Just like an authenticator or redirector really.  Then the
external program to interface to coke is fairly trivial.
