Yes, I know about samba, and I know I could use it. However I was aiming
to be able to do an evil behind the scenes mounting of remote
directories. Which then appears as a series of samba shares on the one
box. (I'm not sure these people would understand different things on
different boxes)

I shall have to keep googling it would seem.
