[tech] unaligned traps

If you're writing code for 64 bit platforms, ie the alphas, and have
unaligned traps appear in your code, this might prove useful.
it came across debian-alpha a couple of days ago.  requires gdb and gcc,
and I have no idea how it will perform under Tru64!
