Hi John,

I apologise for the abruptness of my resignation. However I considered my 
own situation and relationship with the club very carefully before 
reaching this decision, and sadly I still believe it is the best thing for 
me to do.

I see no reason not to run the remainder of the programming competition.
I will announce results on the progcomp mailing list, and mail the prize 
to the winner as soon as possible after the competition is finished.

I believe my resignation is not effective for two weeks.
However I will be unable to attend the next two meetings.
I have inserted my last report into next Tuesday's agenda.
